I first became aware of Krank Golf during COVID while I was undergoing physical therapy for my first round of tendonitis (my left arm.) I came across a long drive video about the Krank driver and I was amazed, but also very skeptical. After watching a few more, I found a review of their XX driver, which seemed to be built exactly for someone like me: an amateur golfer with a slower swing speed trying who was tired of spending a fortune on big name clubs built for pros that did absolutely nothing for me but empty my pockets!
I did my homework, and from my car prior to one of my PT sessions I called Krank and spoke with Lance, the owner of the company (something that would never happen calling one of the BIG golf equipment brands.) I explained to Lance my situation, that I was 60yo with tendonitis, a slow swing speed and trouble getting anything more than about 150 yards on my drive. Lance recommended I try their F11XX driver, explained all the technical mumbo-jumbo about the spring effect off the head and all and why drivers like my Cobra King Ltd was giving me nothing but frustration. I explained that I had been building a ****'s Sporting Goods graveyard in my garage with all the expensive clubs that I've tried and wasted money on and was leery about buying another, no-name brand club, and Lance worked out a deal that I couldn't refuse to help me out. So I decided to take a leap of faith . . .
And I'm glad I did! The F11XX was the club that I needed. I was finally able to lift the club head off the mat/grass and get loft on my drives and distance to the point that, on a good day when the golf gods where shining down on me, I was hitting drives over 200 yards!!! Something that I had never been able to do prior with ANY of the umpteen number of clubs that are still sitting in my garage gathering dust. Then, after my second tendonitis (this time in my other arm) I needed to do some serious enhancements to my driver. So I ordered the lightest senior driver shaft that I could find from Amazon, called Krank and they sent me a pair of the their lightest head weights for the F11XX to take more weight off the head as well as a new adjustable tip, and I brought it all to my locals DSG where they assembled and gripped the new shaft and voila . . . I had a brand new club that I was hitting better than ever. Until . . .
My last round of 2024 - my November birthday round - after my drive on the first tee, something went wrong and I couldn't hit a drive further than about 125 yards for the rest of the round. When I got home, I found that the driver face was cracked. A few weeks later I called Krank and after speaking with Lance, he had me send him a photo and confirmed that the head was indeed cracked. I was shocked and mad that this could happen but the club was a few years old and out of warranty. But Lance, being as gentleman and a professional, worked out an out-of-warranty deal for me on a replacement head and last December I purchased the Formula Fire XX head that fits perfectly on my custom built senior shaft. I live in NJ so I had to wait a few months until the weather turned nice (yesterday) to give this a try, and . . .
HOLY $#!T. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY DO IT, BUT THIS DRIVER CRUSHES MY F11XX!!!
I had the FIRE XX adjusted the same way as my F11XX, it is a 10.5 head adjusted up to 12.5 with a neutral lie and I was crushing it with a massive loft and going 200 easily and almost every drive at the range. And it feels very light, maybe even a bit lighter than my old head with the lightest weights. I cannot recommend this driver enough if you are like me: an amateur golfer, maybe an older one at that, who is trying to get as much enjoyment as possible out of his/her drives and keep up with the rest of the foursome. In my case, it's my kids or my friends, but when I drive like this, it boosts my confidence and helps to make my game more enjoyable. And at the end of the day, THAT'S what golf should be about.
Thanks Lance and Krank, for a great product and great support. You're stuck with me for life!!! LOL
