ABOUT THE VOLVIK WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP

Go long or go home. That’s the attitude of the adrenaline fueled Volvik World Long Drive Championship. This is power golf’s greatest spectacle. It’s big. It’s loud. It’s contested under the lights from WinStar World Casino & Resort and televised live in prime time on Golf Channel.

VOLVIK WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP

Open Division
The Total Package… Victorious again.

Joe Miller crushed a monster 423 yard drive to win his second Volvik World Long Drive Championship at WinStar World Casino & Resort. Miller, 31, from London, defeated Ryan Steenberg of Rochester, N.Y., in the final. Steenberg hit first, posting a drive of 412 yards. Miller, who in previous rounds had hit two drives of more than 435 yards, smacked one 423 to win the championship.

“A real honor to be standing here,” Miller said as he received the $125,000 champion’s check and a boxing-style title belt. Asked if he wanted this title more than the one he had won in 2010, he replied, “Yeah I did, I think. It’s been building up since 2010. [I’ve been] working hard, training hard.”

Joe Miller won his first championship in 2010.

Women’s Division
New Zealander Phillis Meti won the 2016 Women’s Volvik World Long Drive Championship in dramatic fashion — with her final ball of the championship. Meti crushed a 310-yard bomb into a strong head wind, stunning Chloe Garner, followed by one of the most memorable celebrations in World Long Drive history.

“I’m pretty stoked and super surprised as I didn’t think I had it in me,” said an excited Meti.

This was Meti’s second career Volvik World Long Drive Championship. The Aucklander was also victorious in 2006 and a runner-up in 2007 and 2008.

Masters Division
The Legends of Long.

Under the lights in Oklahoma, Tom Peppard was the first long driver to cash in at WinStar World Casino behind thunderous drives in the Sooner State showdown. Peppard knocked out Daniel Lambert in the Championship Match with a 346 yard bomb to win the Masters Division title of the Volvik World Long Drive Championship.
